Cargo Bikes Feasibility Study

Supported by

This project is an extension of the Traffic Study 1 (accidents and NMT) & 2 (traffic, parking, and commerce) on Lagos Island. It is aimed at carrying out a feasibility study on the use of cargo bikes for delivery purposes by the commercial and informal sector within the mapped area of Lagos Island. The study has the potential of influencing decisions and regulations by relevant and local authorities in Lagos Island to reduce traffic congestion and pollution and make the roads safer thereby creating a more resilient Lagos Island. The success of this intervention in Lagos Island also make it possible to be replicated in other parts of the state.

The study was done in conjunction with the University of Lagos as a technical consultant and the Lagos Island Local Government Authority.

In 2020, we will be taking the study further by 1. Designing and retrofitting a cargo bike to ensure it is fit for purpose on Lagos Island and test its use & 2. Support the growth of cargo bike development as a business.
